Not your traditional support group
The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation is committed to enriching the lives of cancer survivors through education that empowerss their lives through healthy attitudes, choices and strategies. Surviving and Thriving is a multi-session, interactive program for participants whose lives have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis and is led by trained facilitators who bring new approaches to nurturing, positive living and gratitude.
The concepts go beyond the medical model, distribution of technical information and participation in discussions that can become entrenched in negativity or sadness. Surviving and Thriving is just exactly that...an experience intended for the whole person and not limited to just the physical self.

Classes are now forming to train new facilitators (in both Spanish and English) for the Survive and Thrive empowerment series.
We are looking for committee individuals to receive training, coaching and evaluation in techniques, guidance and mentoring. This training will not only contribute to a facilitator’s ability to convey the message to the group and gain fruitful feedback from participants, but to BE the message, as well.
While facilitators may communicate new information to attendees, they will not be in the role of teacher, instructor or director. Rather, they will serve as the impetus and direction for participants to engage in a successful experience.
